WP 8: Risk prediction/Diagnosis of Susceptibility and Progression of Osteoarthritis

Participants:

KCL, Erasmus, LUMC, Synarc

Objectives:

1. To utilise combinations of biochemical and genetic makers along with epidemiological risk factors in existing population-based cohorts to predict radiographic progression and clinical outcomes.
2. To assess the value of such markers as diagnostic products capable of identifying individuals at high risk of developing OA and/or of progressing to severe hip and knee OA.
3. To develop a diagnostic model in a subset of population based longitudinal cohort (n=2000) and confirm the positive and negative predictive values in five independent cohorts (n=8000).
